Raptors Nation is buzzing with excitement as Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan share their dream of retiring as Raptors—and fans are 100% on board.
The players reunited for an episode of “Open Gym,” Presented by Bell, where they took a trip down memory lane to reflect on their most iconic moments, challenges they faced and the bond they share.
Lowry, who’s currently a point guard for the Philadelphia 76ers, says he wants to end his career as a Raptor.
“I’m gonna take my one day, whenever I retire, it’s going to be one day, and I want to finish my career as a Toronto Raptor. I’m gonna finish it because what that place did for me, what that place did for him, what that place did for our families and friends, we will never get that back,” he said.
Lowry played with the team from 2012-2021 and helped the team secure their first NBA championship in franchise history in 2019.
DeRozan was drafted to the Raptors in 2009 and played with the team for an impressive nine years.
“Me being drafted there, there’s no other place I wanted to go,” he said.
DeRozan is now a shooting guard for the Sacramento Kings, but he reflected on his time with the Raptors and said he gave everything to the team.
“The love, the ups and downs, I really gave my all to that organization, to that country because I just wanted them respected in return. So, definitely, that’s the only place I want to go out as well, the whole one day thing. I would never have an emotional connection like I have with a place than Toronto.”

“I’m not crying… you’re crying. Can’t ask for anything more from your team’s star players,” one user shared.
