The Brandon Gonez Show spoke with Dr. Abdullah Kirumira about his vision behind the creation of his probiotic Bioteem40, and with the help of FACE Coalition he was able to bring it to life.
As conversations grow in society on the importance of gut health and how it affects your overall well-being, Nova Scotia scientist Dr. Abdullah Kirumira has developed a new product specifically designed to address this need.
The Ugandan-born scientist moved to Nova Scotia in the 1990s and has worked in different medical areas such as HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular diagnostics and regularly volunteered in pediatric clinics in his home country.
Dr. Kirumira shared that his research has focused on creating health products for wealthier markets, with the goal of using the proceeds to support medical needs in poorer nations.
“As a scientist, I always have lots of ideas, but we study the market and we try to find something that we think the map needs, and then we come in the lab and start developing it,” Dr. Kirumira told The Brandon Gonez Show.
Dr. Kirumira’s goal is to revolutionize the nutrient industry, and with the help of The Federation of African Canadian Economics (FACE), he created his fifth product called Bioteem40, a fortified probiotic supplement that will help repair your gut.
FACE Coalition is a non-profit that supports Black entrepreneurship helping provide financing to Black business owners’ innovations.
“By the time FACE started working with me, I was making my product in an instant pot,” said Dr. Kirumira.
After ensuring the product’s effectiveness, Dr. Kirumira transitioned the manufacturing of Bioteem40 to a bioreactor. In this setup, the nutrients and probiotics are mixed prior to being converted into a powder.
“When I started working with FACE, I wanted to scale up my process, and we bought these five bioreactors with the assistance of FACE, so they helped us to do that,” he added.
Bioteem40 uses the therapeutics of probiotics along with essential vitamins and minerals to create improved absorption in the body.
Bioteem40 is a fortified probiotic powder, a holistic supplement for gut health, skin and immune support.
He tells The Brandon Gonez Show how gut health is paramount, saying that when your gut is healthy and absorbing the nutrients it needs, everything else in your body will work better.
“It’s a new area at the medical profession, and we scientists have just recognised how important the gut is,” he shared.
He also spoke on the raving reviews he’s received from customers who are elated that Bioteem40 has improved their gut, and also improved skin conditions like psoriasis and the appearance of wrinkles.
“If you take Bioteem40, you don’t need to take anything else. By taking a scoop every morning instead of taking 30 tablets, you can just take one scoop in the morning and you’re fixed for the day,” he said.
