Customers are sharing that a restaurant in Burnaby, British Columbia isn’t giving people an option to not tip.

On Monday, a user on X posted a photo of a payment machine that shows a black sticker that says “tip” on top of what’s believed to be the no tip option.

The user did not disclose which restaurant the photo was taken at, but according to reddit users it’s alleged to be a Korean business called Chicken Plus x Sulbing Cafe.

A recent customer at the establishment left a Google review and said, “I hated the tip option. I couldn’t believe it, they are taking advantage of people making them think they can’t skip the tip. I was picking up the food for take out!”

A previous customer also said, “On the prompt screen for tipping, they’ve put a black sticker over the “no tip” option portion of the screen, along with a “please tip” written on the space below the screen.”

“Prices have already raised and are high for what it is, and now they want us to pay more tip too? (the % starts at a solid 15 or 18). I called in and physically went into grab my own food, so what am I tipping for?”

Some people online are reacting to the viral post and defending the hospitality industry.

One user said, “Clearly none of ya’ll have been a waiter.”

Another user said, “Not tipping means that your server is paying out of pocket.”

The Brandon Gonez Show contacted the restaurant but did not receive a response in time of publication.
