Popular cookie chain Crumbl usually creates online excitement over their weekly flavours, but today the company is making headlines after a video surfaced of North Carolina employees doing hair in the kitchen area.
A customer named William Baker recorded the shocking encounter of an employee sitting on a step ladder and getting her scalp oiled by another Crumbl employee.
It is reported that Baker allegedly was dismissed by the employees when he confronted them.
The internet is just as shocked as the customer, that employees of a well-known food establishment were treating it like a hair salon.
“Doing hair directly over the prep stations is wild. The health inspector is going to have an absolute field day with this location,” a user commented on X.
Many are questioning the company’s health and safety practices and training, as this happened during business hours, and the employees disregard the fact that a customer was in the store.
“A workplace moment that looks harmless can still raise questions about proper kitchen practices,” commented a user on the video.
There are however some who don’t really see this as a big deal because the employee’s hair was in single braids which sometimes requires oiling of the scalp because it gets itchier than normal.
“Looks like she Js [just] putting oil in her hair… I got braids in rn [right now] and Ngl [not gonna lie] dis shi be itching bad I damn near need oil every hour,” another user commented on X.
Crumbl says this behaviour is “unacceptable”
The Brandon Gonez Show reached out to Crumbl for a statement regarding how the company is approaching the issue.
“We are aware of the video circulating on social media showing inappropriate employee behavior at one of our stores,” they told The Brandon Gonez Show.“The conduct shown is unacceptable and does not reflect Crumbl’s standards.”
Although Crumbl did not specify the exact disciplinary measures taken against the staff involved, they shared the steps implemented to restore proper hygiene at the location.
“Upon learning of the incident, we immediately closed the store, discarded all dough on site, brought in a professional cleaning crew, and took appropriate action with the employees involved. We hold every location to strict health and safety policies, and we take violations seriously when they occur,” read the statement.

This isn’t the first time Crumbl has been called out for sanitary violations after being exposed online.
Earlier this year, a viral video with millions of views circulated of a Crumbl employee in Florida putting her foot on the cookie trays, sending the internet into uproar.
