BRAMPTON – A lot of women don’t feel comfortable walking alone during the day, let alone at night! Enter Cupid’s Sting! The non-profit provides affordable self-defence resources for women and girls in Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean.
Cupid’s Sting is a violence reduction program that teaches women life-saving skills through workshops on topics like self-defence classes, safety assessments, how to recognize and handle abuse while dating, interpersonal violence, domestic violence, and sexual harassment.
“Cupid’s Sting is a women’s safety non-profit that teaches women life-saving skills to protect themselves inside and outside the home,” says founder Dr. Laurie J. Samuel, Ph.D.
“Violence against women disproportionately impacts women of colour and at Cupid’s Sting we are working to stop that by getting in front of the problem and normalizing safety education so we can prevent and reduce violence against women,” Samuel continued.
Cupid’s Sting has another class coming in just a few weeks!
On Saturday, August 6th at 1 P.M. Cupid’s Sting will host a self-defence class at Centennial Park in Brampton. Samuel says the class will empower participants and equip them with practical self-defence moves to keep themselves safe in scary situations.
Tickets are set at a “pay what you can” rate, but a donation of $15 is gently recommended. If you can’t make this event, Cupid’s Sting will have other events later this year in the G.T.A.
