Jae & Trey Richards’s talk all about their new show ‘The Office Movers’ on the newest episode of The BG Show’s Hennessy Conversations

On the latest addition of The BG Show’s Hennessy Conversations Jae & Trey Richards, two of Canada’s funniest comedians, sat down with Brandon Gonez to spill all the tea about their new show The Office Movers, and how Brampton, childhood, and their father play a big role in the new series.

Growing up in Brampton takes center stage when it comes to Jae and Trey’s comedy careers. With their very first sketch  posted to YouTube in 2011, Jae and Trey told Brandon that ‘although now they don’t find it funny, at the time, peers at school loved it.’ The brothers shouted out their high school Fletcher’s Meadow Secondary School and said they remember always being the class clowns. Trey talked about being suspended three times for making jokes in class. Trey told us “ I got suspended for asking my computer teacher why I need a pencil in a computer class, we were typing bruh” While Jae said “I was a good kid in class” Although he said he had personality and made jokes in class he saved most of it for when they went home to record.

When talking about  how they have navigated comedy in terms of what is acceptable is constantly changing Jae said they always know where the line is and Trey said “we just like to make other people laugh I don’t like to make people feel uncomfortable”

Jae and Trey also mentioned how growing up was hard and “At a time that was so dark in our life, comedy was that light.”

The duo credited a lot of their comedic ways to their father who was pretty funny himself and who made them watch iconic comedians like Dave Chappel when growing up.

Although they mentioned their dad helping to buy their first camera, a Canon Rebel T2i, most of their production costs growing up were paid for with their own money they saved up while working at their dad’s office moving company which the show is based on.

Jae and Trey’s relationship with Bell Media began in 2016 when they became part of Much Digital Studios Trey compares the match up as “Bell was Jackie Chan and we were JadenSmith.” With Bell Media backing them on a variety of ventures, it only makes sense that their new original series The Office Movers lives on Crave.

When asked what advice the duo would lend to people on a journey who may be feeling unmotivated,Jae said “Believe me being here still blows my mind. This is proof of me having doubts back then and it should be proof to you. “Trey said believe but also be patient with yourself. Whatever will happen will happen when you’re ready.”

The brothers say they have big plans for season two (depending on its approval) as season one1 was just the start; they described it as their “rookie season.”

The Office Movers is now available for streaming on Crave. When asked why people should watch their show, Jae said the show is a must-watch because “it’s a great time, it’s relatable, funny” he even said how people should tune in and support the “independent creator, the Canadian creator and the Black creator.”
