The number of women needing support services has skyrocketed since the pandemic started, especially for Black women. I sat down with Tamara Whilby, the director of Women & Children Precious Shelter, a new safe haven located in Brampton, Ontario & scheduled to open in early 2022 for people fleeing domestic abuse situations. Whilby told me about the need for services like the ones her shelter is working to provide while explaining what makes WCPS different from other shelters.
