Not Like Us… In Toronto? Kendrick’s Concert Sparks Loyalty Debate in the 6ix

If you’re from the 6ix, come to the front real quick. Because we’ve got to talk about what went down at Kendrick Lamar’s recent concert in Toronto at the Rogers Center—and the reaction that’s got everyone talking.

It all started when the crowd at Kendrick’s “Grand National Tour” went absolutely crazy last night when “Not Like Us” came on. Not once… but multiple times. Fans were hyped, dancing, and even begging for encores of the track.

And well many feel like the diss track “Not Like Us” is more than a diss track. It’s a direct shot at Drake, and by extension, the city of Toronto itself.

Reactions have quickly poured in from around the globe with one tiktok user saying “yall showed a …. Why you mess with Kendrick Lamar more than drake”

The breakfast club host Envy shared his opinion saying “I would feel a way if I was Drake…  y’all are supposed to be my city”

But that doesn’t mean the city was completely quiet on the OVO front. Drake fans still came out in full force to show love and stand behind their hometown hero.

The Bg Show hit the rogers center to talk to some OVO fans and the love was definitely their one person saying “OVO forever” while another said “love you, Drake.”

On the other side, some Torontonians said it’s not that deep—they’re fans of both Kendrick and Drake, and they’re still planning to even attend OVO Fest.

“I love them both! … I’m still going to OVO too!”

Others weren’t so forgiving. A wave of criticism hit social media, calling out the crowd for turning up to a track dissing their city’s biggest cultural icon.

“Shame on everyone… and this is how you repay us?”

Then again, some fans say it’s just music—and that the beef between Drake and Kendrick has nothing to do with the audience.

“They’re two grown men! That’s their beef. I have nothing to do with it.”

So now the question is: Where does Toronto stand?

Did the city drop the ball in supporting one of its own—or was this just fans enjoying a historic hip-hop moment, no matter who was on the mic?
