Petro-Canada’s New Campaign Wants You to Tour the Canadian Boston, Miami, and Houston

When some hear Boston they think Massachusetts but did you know that there is one much closer located in Ontario?

Petro-Canada recently launched a new campaign “Visit Canada” aimed to encourage Canadians to explore towns and cities within the country that happen to share the same name with some of the biggest U.S. destinations. Think Miami, Manitoba instead of Miami, Florida, or Houston, British Columbia over Houston, Texas.

These old style Postcard ads can be seen on billboards all across the country, and are a part of Petro-Canada’s broader initiative, “Live by the Leaf” which celebrates Canadian identity, local travel, and national pride. Rather than promoting international getaways, the company is encouraging roadtrippers to embrace what makes Canada unique.

This campaign also comes at a time when tensions between Canada and the U.S. have escalated due to ongoing trade disputes. With tariffs, border complications, and a shifting economic landscape, more Canadians are being encouraged to vacation within their own borders.

The concept plays off curiosity and familiarity, Canadians may not realize that tucked away across the country are towns named Boston, Miami, and even Memphis. These communities, while not as flashy as their American counterparts, offer something special—whether it’s small-town hospitality, stunning scenery, or great food, each is unique .

Petro-Canada’s campaign pushes Canadians to look for affordable, local travel options amid rising costs south of the border. Petro-Canada is helping people see the value of exploring Canada and reinforcing the idea that you don’t need to cross the border to find adventure.

We reached out to Petro Canada about the campaign but did not receive a response in time of publication.
