As a dynamic duo, Canadian television personality Drew Scott, along with his twin brother Jonathan, took Canada and the rest of the world by storm in 2011, as they tackled real people’s fixer-upper residences and transformed them into luxurious homes. Now, the pair are back to take it one step further.

Property Brothers ran on W Network and HGTV for 8 years, providing its global audience with 14 seasons of the star twins flipping houses at a discounted rate for the homeowners.

As an actor and a realtor on the hit series, Drew told The Brandon Gonez Show the experience was a welcomed one.

“We’re in over 160 countries, but people will watch our programmes and get inspired in their home.” Drew told Brandon Gonez. “…Everyone deserves to be happy at home, to feel safe and secure, and to be able to afford the home they need, and for us to be a little tiny part of showing them how they can do that means the world to me.”

Drew added that he and Jonathan, who worked as the contractor on the show, don’t get to hang out off-camera as often as they’d like in their free time.

“We get so busy in our lives. My kids are little, and he’s on the other side of town in LA, but all the times we do get together, we cherish it,” he said. “My wife and I, our dream would be a family compound, [to] have everybody in their own houses in one little area, that would be amazing.”

As two siblings spending hours on end together during long shoot days, Drew said the way the two have such a great relationship is by dealing with issues as they happen.

“I call it our no B.S. policy. We don’t let things harbour and build up. If something’s bothering one of us, we get it out. We deal with it,” Drew explained. “We both know we want the best for the project, for the homeowners, for everybody. It’s not always my way or his way. That’s the best. Sometimes it’s a combination.”

The duo will now be starring in a new reboot of their iconic show, which plans to tackle harder topics, with greater outcomes.

Drew said Property Brothers: Under Pressure aims to flip the script of the unattainable dream home, providing affordable renovated homes to those who need it most following tragedy, financial hardships or loss.

“We have 14 episodes this season that we’re showcasing,” Drew shared. “Some are extreme cases. Families have lost everything in the fires in LA and they’re helping them see past that emotional block that they have, that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

Drew added this season keeps the camera rolling, leaving nothing to the viewer’s imagination.

“Conversations that you would think would be off camera, we’re having on camera and it really shows the highs and the lows,” Drew explained. “[I’ve] cried, Jonathan does, the homeowners [too]. But there’s also a lot of fun. We’re trying to de-stress these families.”

He added when strenuous situations keep the family tense, such as a mother going through chemotherapy, the brothers will try and alleviate it.

“I took them [to] go karting so that we could all just be out there doing something fun as a family, so they can laugh and remember what it’s like to laugh,” Drew shared with a smile. “Six-hundred and fifty episodes of our shows we’ve done helping families. I’ll never get tired of what we do, because we make what some families think is impossible possible.”

Drew will also be making a guest appearance on the hit CBC show Murdoch Mysteries’ season 19 finale on Monday, April 13, as he continues his ventures on the big screen.

The first episode of Property Brothers: Under Pressure released on HGTV Canada and Prime Video on March 15.
