Toronto is mourning the loss of three young siblings who were killed in a devastating car crash on Highway 401, allegedly caused by a drunk driver. The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of grief and support from across the community.

The crash happened Sunday night when a Dodge Caravan, allegedly driven by a 19-year-old at high speed, slammed into a minivan that was stopped at a red light. The minivan was carrying a 35-year-old woman, her four children, and a 40-year-old family friend. According to reports, the group had been returning home after watching Victoria Day fireworks.

Two of the children died at the scene. A third child passed away due to injuries shortly after.

The victims have been identified as:

  • Ramone Lavina, 15-Years-old
  • Jace Lavina, 13-Years-old
  • Maya Lavina, 6- ears-old

The news has shaken the city, prompting emotional responses from leaders and residents alike. Ontario Premier Doug Ford issued a public statement, calling the deaths “tragic and senseless.”

“I am heartbroken by the tragic and senseless deaths of three young children. My thoughts are with the families grieving this unimaginable loss of life. The person responsible for this heinous act needs to face the harshest punishment possible.” – Premier Doug Ford

The driver, identified as Ethan Lehouillier, 19, of Georgetown, Ontario, is facing 12 charges, including impaired operation causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

As the investigation continues, the community has come together to support the victims’ family. A GoFundMe campaign launched for the family surpassed expectations, raising more than $130,000 by Tuesday morning — far above its original $25,000 goal.

While two family members remain in hospital, messages of love and solidarity continue to pour in from across the region. The Lavina family now faces unimaginable grief.
