A Toronto woman is speaking out after capturing a disturbing racist confrontation on video earlier this month. The incident happened in a west-end Etobicoke plaza, where the woman, who is Black says she was verbally attacked by a white man while sitting in her legally parked car.
The man verbally attacked the woman saying, “You’ve got about 10 minutes, and then I’m going to call the cops… Why do you f*cking Blacks have a mouth on you?”
The woman, who requested to stay anonymous out of concern for her safety, says she was simply sitting in her car when the man approached her window, seemingly angry and aggressive. “I was on my phone… as he approaches my window, he just looks very annoyed and disturbed. And he goes, ‘You can’t park here,’” she recalled.

She told The Brandon Gonez Show that she was a customer at one of the plaza’s businesses and had every right to be parked there. Despite this, the man continued to berate her, shouting profanities and falsely accusing her of trespassing.
“Shut up. F*ck out of here!… People like you park and scratch cars,” he said.
Toronto Police told The BG Show that “anyone who fears for their safety should contact police.”
This incident is part of a larger pattern reflected in recent statistics. According to the Toronto Police Service, hate crime reports in the city have surged in recent years. Last year, there were 443 reported hate crimes. Black communities remain one of the most frequently targeted groups.
In the wake of the confrontation, the woman says she’s still trying to process the experience — but she also had a message for the man who harassed her:
“I hope that God softens his heart that he may not look at anyone or talk to anyone the way he spoke to me that day ever again.”
This incident serves as a stark reminder that racism remains a lived reality for many even in a city as diverse as Toronto. While the woman continues to process what happened, her courage in speaking out highlights the importance of sharing these stories.
