A Brampton family is left heartbroken after the remains of a 16-year-old boy named Jay’siiah Webb-Long was found, more than a year after he went missing.

The family has now created a GoFundMe page and are asking for support during this difficult time.

In the fundraiser, the family outlines that the money raised would go toward covering funeral expenses after Saskatchewan RCMP confirmed his death is being investigated as a homicide.

“Our family is heartbroken over the tragic loss of our beloved Jay’siiah Webb-Long,” the fundraiser reads. “Jay’siiah was only 16 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.”

Saskatchewan RCMP say human remains found near Pelican Narrows last week have been identified as Webb-Long, who had been missing since last May after travelling from Brampton to the remote northern Saskatchewan community.

Officers located the remains on May 13 during a planned search near Pelican Narrows, a community that is part of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation located about 420 kilometres north of Saskatoon, according to RCMP. An autopsy was conducted two days later.

A missing persons report was originally filed by Webb-Long’s family with Peel Regional Police in April 2025. His disappearance was also part of the Ontario missing Black boys investigation.

“No parent or family should ever have to endure the pain of losing a child,” the fundraiser says. “Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean so much to the family as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”

The family is also encouraging people who cannot donate to share the fundraiser and keep them in their thoughts and prayers, and as of right now they are more than half way

The GoFundMe has received more than $10,000 by time of publication, more than half way of its $20,000 goal.

The investigation is still ongoing and police are urging people with any information to report it to Saskatchewan RCMP by calling 310-RCMP, or 1-306-780-5563 if outside the province.
