A disturbing video was posted online of a middle school art teacher showing her class a heinous act of wrapping a charger cord around a Black baby doll’s neck and hanging the doll from a television.

The incident took place at Barrington Middle School in Florida and the teacher, Karen Savage has been fired.

Nina Williams, the mother of one of the students in the classroom posted the video her son recorded on her Facebook page.

“This emotionally affected ALL the children in that classroom. My son’s friends of different cultures and races were all deeply offended and disturbed by this racist act. These kids stood united, grabbed evidence, and wrote official statements today,” the post says.

Williams also explains on the post that the children called out Karen Savage for this racist act and she laughed it off and allegedly said it was to “get their attention.

“I already said he is not going back. I don’t trust them until they get this taken care of and make us feel comfortable. He can do everything from home,” Williams commented on her post.

In an interview with 10 Tampa Bay News, Williams’ son Noah shares that he was hesitant at first to speak out about this incident because the teacher was following him to the office. Nina Williams also shared her disappointment in the interview.

“That’s something I didn’t expect my children in 2026 to ever have to deal with seeing a lynching, whether it was real or fake,” said Williams.

People online shared their outrage and shock that an educator would do this in a classroom full of children.

“How horrifying. Classrooms are no longer safe for our children. I’m sorry your son and the other students affected went through this. However, I’m proud the students and your son are United in seeking justice. I pray for the students affected,” commented a user on the Facebook post.

Social media users are also pointing out that this is why many schools push to ban cellphones, as many believe the schools want to prevent such outrageous acts from being recorded and revealed to the public.

“This [is] the only reason I can’t get completely behind the no phones movement,” said another user.

Many are confused as to why the teacher did this in the first place, questioning the moment before.

American civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump also weighed in on the incident, and reposted the video on social media stating, “A Black baby doll hanging by a cord inside a Florida classroom is not a “joke,” it evokes the painful history of terror and lynching in America. Our children deserve classrooms that uplift, protect, and respect the dignity of every student!”
