Serena Williams is truly the ultimate tennis “Queen of the Court” and her comeback win yesterday with Canada’s very own Victoria Mboko attests to that statement.

On June 1, it was announced that the 44-year-old tennis icon would return to play the game professionally after four years. The last time Williams competed was at the 2022 U.S. Open.

Williams doubled up with 19-year-old Victoria Mboko at the opening round of the HSBC Championships at the Queen’s Club on Tuesday, and they took the win against Erin Routliffe and Nicole Melichar-Martinez.

The Queens Club spectators gave a standing ovation as Williams continues to live up to her name of being one of the greatest players.

Mboko posted photos with Williams after their win. “Can’t name a better way to start the grass szn,” wrote Mboko on her social media post.

After the announcement that the two would be doubling up, Mboko stated in another post, “The Queen is back. An honor to share the court with one of the greatest athletes of all time this week. Even more excited to play doubles together! Tennis is pretty special.”

Serena Williams currently has 32 Grand Slam titles and Mboko holds two career WTA Tour singles titles.

The duo will return their tournament run on June 11 at the HSBC Championships Women’s Quarter Finals.
