A U.S judge got the shock of her life when she was attacked by a defendant seconds before delivering his sentencing.

The brutal assault took place at around 11 a.m. at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Clark County District Judge Mary Kay Holthus was preparing to sentence 30-year-old Deobra Redden in a felony battery case when he somehow managed to leap over the judge’s bench and land right on top of her.

Video posted onto TikTok.

Holthus sustained some injuries but was not hospitalized, according to ABC News

Redden was restrained by jail officers and courtroom staff members.

In fact, a courtroom marshal was reportedly injured after stepping in and had to be treated in hospital for a bleeding gash on his forehead and a dislocated shoulder.

The irony is that Redden reportedly asked the judge for leniency and even described himself as “a person who never stops trying to do the right thing no matter how hard it is” just before violently lunging at her.
