Fans and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” castmates are paying tribute to actor Andre Braugher after his sudden passing.
The Emmy-winning actor was best known for his role as Captain Raymond Holt on the hit show “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” The series ran for eight seasons on NBC from September 17, 2013 to September 16, 2021.
It was reported he passed after a brief illness at the age of 61. His publicist Jennifer Allen confirmed the news to Variety Magazine that the actor died on Monday.
People online are paying tribute to the actor and some even recalling personal stories about Braugher.
A user on X said, “2 weeks straight of all nighters beside my mother’s bed in palliative care. Brooklyn 99 kept me sane. Andre Braugher was sheer comic genius in that role. RIP.”

Cast members of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” have also posted their emotional tributes online honouring their late castmate.
Terry Crews who played Terry Jeffords on the show shared his thoughts on Instagram.
“Can’t believe you’re gone so soon. I’m honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent,” he said.
Chelsea Peretti, who played Gina Linetti, also posted on Instagram a picture of Braugheron set and captioned it in part, “Is it weird that I am also grieving for what Captain Holt meant to Gina? I really hoped and knew I would see you again. Hate that I won’t.”
Marc Evan Jackson who played the actor’s onscreen husband also paid tribute on X and captioned it, “O Captain. My Captain.”
