Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ snubbed by Country Music Awards: Fans outraged over zero nominations

Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ has made headlines this year for its unprecedented success, topping Billboard’s Country Albums Chart for four weeks and seeing her hit single, ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’, dominate for ten weeks straight.

The hit album made history as Beyoncé became the first Black woman to achieve such milestones in country music. Yet, despite this groundbreaking achievement, Cowboy Carter received zero nominations at this year’s Country Music Awards (CMA) leading fans to call it ‘a total snub’

The BeyHive are expressing their frustration over the CMA’s decision. Many argue that the album’s impact, combined with Beyoncé’s trailblazing role in the genre, called for recognition. The groundbreaking album featured collaborations with country legends such as Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Miley Cyrus.

In addition, the album has reignited conversations about Black artists reclaiming their space in country music and social media users gave their take on the subject.

Artist Morgan Wallen is leading the 2024 CMA awards with seven nominations, including his feature with Post Malone on the radio hit, ‘I Had Some Help.’ In addition, Malone is being nominated four times.

Black Country Artist Shaboozey also earned two CMA nominations but publicly acknowledged Beyoncé’s influence and contribution to the genre.

The decision to overlook Beyoncé has sparked widespread debate about the awards’ criteria and the representation of diverse artists within the country music industry.
