A sweet surprise is coming to Canada as it’s been announced that Dunkin’ is returning.
The American coffee shop Dunkin’ (formally known as Dunkin’ Donuts) had its run in Canada when hundreds of locations closed back in 2018.
Foodtastic, a Canadian restaurant holding company announced on May 12 that they signed a franchising agreement with Dunkin’.
Hundreds of locations are planned to open around the country as early as this year or the beginning of 2027.
The popular American coffee shop is well-known for not only their affordable delicious coffees and donuts, but also their breakfast sandwiches and other snacks.
“It just gives more, vibrant. They’re like more on the trends, I guess. And that’s what I like about them,” said Canadian Ashmya D.
The Brandon Gonez Show asked Canadians if Dunkin’ will become the new go-to spot over Tim Hortons.
“Yes, I’m super excited. I haven’t tried it, but I’m very excited. You know, something different. That’s what I’m excited for,” Tabuu T. told the BG Show.
“Tim Hortons just got pizza, and that’s a game changer. So Dunkin Donuts, you better get you know, something better than pizza,” he added.
Canadians are always hyped for American food chains to open up around the country. Places like Shake Shack, Chick-fil-A and Crumbl have all drawn excitement upon opening in Toronto.
“You know us in Toronto, anything new we just get excited over we’ll form lines if we have to, that’s just us,” said Tabuu T.
“I guess it’s kind of like Shake Shack, right when it came to Canada. When it came to Toronto, it’s a big deal. Maybe they [Canadians] just want to try something that they haven’t tried, if they haven’t been to the states,” says William Y.
With the rise in coffee prices in the country, Canadians are hopeful that Dunkin’ will bring something special, affordable and enjoyable.
