Grammy award winner Ne-Yo is speaking out regarding the change in his career after opening up to the world about his polyamorous relationship.
The singer appeared on the “Sorry We’re Cyrus” podcast with Tish Cyrus and Brandi Cyrus last week where he got candid about society’s perception on his relationship with three women.
“The world is mad at the fact that I’m in a ployamorous relationship,” he said on the podcast. “There’s deals that I missed out on because they’re like, ‘we don’t know if we could get behind the whole polyamorous [thing].”
The Brandon Gonez Show asked Canadians how they feel about Ne-Yo’s polyamorous relationship, and if they think this should hinder his career opportunities.
“Whatever you decide to do with your life, everyone else should respect it. Regardless of your beliefs, your opinions, I think no one else should have a say in what you do in your life, and that’s that,” said Glen S.
“It feels [like] it’s just another form of prejudice, really. I think it’s discriminating against someone for something that they, you know, a decision that they’ve made, or a lifestyle that they’ve decided to live,” Joss H told The Brandon Gonez Show.
“There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s completely like, it’s great, I’m polyamorous,” Joss H shared.
Ne-Yo also spoke about how after publicizing his relationship with the public, people would be more interested in talking about his girlfriends rather than his music.
Despite the fact that Ne-Yo is so sick from hearing the judgements, he is still showing love to his girlfriends in a recent anniversary post on Instagram.
Ne-Yo went through a divorce with his wife of six years, Crystal Renay in 2023 after she accused him of cheating on her.
Speaking about his hard divorce on the “Sorry We’re Cyrus” podcast he said, “I accept full responsibility for what I did wrong in the relationship. I definitely did my wrongs and I accept those.”
