Iconic patty shop Randy’s Patties is returning to Little Jamaica as of Friday!

The beloved restaurant announced it is re-opening its doors this week after closing back in Feb. 2022 due to a variety of reasons, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Metrolinx construction and labour shortages.

Randy’s has been serving patties in the Eglinton West Business Area since 1979. According to the owners, this year marks 45 years for the business.

“Randy’s will never change,” a Randy’s said in a press release. “Randy’s firmly believes in the adage if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. The taste stays the same. That is what people want, and that is what will be returned to them. It has been the people’s patty since 1979. They are loyal to the brand, and we are loyal to them,” it continued.

The restaurant says it has been working around the clock to improve its facility with modern, state-of-the-art equipment and increased production capacity.

Despite the renovations, the owners emphasize that the beloved patty and its taste remains the same under the guidance of its original creators.

“Since July 11, 2024, when Randy’s announced its intention to reopen, the staff have gone through extensive training and rigorous batch testing to ensure that the taste remains the same,” the restaurant said.

In addition to its original patties, Randy’s says its signature curry goat and oxtail, which are crowd favourites, will also be on the menu, and as a new feature, Randy’s is introducing a halal option for its patties and jerk chicken.

Online, foodies are excited for the patty shop’s return.

“Welcome home,” one Instagram user said.

“Icons never die,” another user said.

“So happy y’all are coming back,” another user commented.
