TORONTO – Winner of the inaugural Digital Creator Fan Choice Award at The Legacy Awards, Ika Wong is a powerhouse in her own right. Born in Jamaica and starring in multiple seasons of Big Brother Canada, the reality star and content creator’s sparkling personality has captured the hearts of many Canadians.
In addition to starring on Big Brother and being a content creator online, Wong has done various work for Entertainment Tonight Canada. She left ET in 2020, saying the move was due to their silence on the Black Lives Matter movement.
Wong is currently engaged to fellow Big Brother Canada alum, Demetres Giannitsos, who she started seeing when the duo first competed on Big Brother. The pair got engaged in March of this year, and have a successful Youtube page where they produce popular content with themes like Dem’s “Acting Like My Wife When She Gets Her Hair Done” and Ika’s “What We Want Our Husbands to Say”.
Giving Ika Wong Her Flowers
When she graced the stage to receive her award, she was full of thanks for everyone who has supported her career and successes.

“I love you Demetres, and thanks to my son for giving me all the latest TikToks, I really appreciate it. Thank you guys to all of my supporters, thank you guys so much. My subscribers, thank you guys, love you!” She continued.
Wong took to social media the following day to share a supercut of highlights from The Legacy Awards along with the following caption:
“WE DID IT!!! ?? Thank you so much for voting for me ??❤️ I literally can’t thank you enough for always showing up for me. I really would not be where I am today without your support and I can’t articulate enough how grateful I am to have such amazing and loyal people in my corner ??❤️”
Many people shared their support with Wong in the comments section, including Big Brother host Arisa Cox.
“It’s only right!! You earned this moment,” Cox wrote.
“People love you Ika because we can literally see your heart, pure. Congratulations” wrote one fan under Wong’s post.
“IKAAAAAAAAA!!! Congratulations my friend. You deserve everything EVERYTHING EVERYTHING!!! “ wrote Sasha Ruddock of Flaws of Couture.
The award was dedicated to celebrating the talent of Black Canadian content creators and gave the public a chance to get in on the voting. Nominees for this year’s Fan Choice included Basement Gang, Ika Wong, Keshia Rush, King Bach, Kissy Duerré, and Marlon Palmer.
Catching Up With Ika
We caught up with Ms. Wong on the Black carpet Sunday night before she won the Fan’s Choice Award for Digital Creators. She shared some valuable advice for young women who want to make it big in the entertainment industry.
“If you can’t get on the big screen, you can get on Youtube, there’s TikTok, there’s Instagram, and I’m sure there are more platforms to come,” Wong shared.
“There are so many platforms that are available to showcase your talent, and it doesn’t have to be the big screen. I found my success on the digital screen,” she added.
Solid advice for people looking to become successful in the industry, but Wong has no advice for people still dating in Toronto!
“Stay strong girls!” she laughed.
