American actor Terrence Howard claims Paramount owes him two decades worth of residuals and performance royalties.
The actor, known best for his role in “Empire,” also played the lead role of DJay in the 2005 film Hustle & Flow where he said he took only $12,000 despite the movie reportedly grossing $75 million.
“I made 12,000 for doing Hustle & Flow and then on top of it what Paramount did instead of putting my name as Terrance Howard performing the songs, they put performed by DJay, well they own Djay so guess what the performance royalties went to Paramount,” Terrence Howard said, during an interview with WREG News Channel 3.
People are reacting to the video on X, formerly known as Twitter, and one user (@clifflyons1) said, “Mind blown! 12!?! Terrance should’ve done better! 12?? Did you see the movie? Hard to say who to be mad at”
Another user (@jdeenmedellin) commented, “Then stealing his royalties is disgusting hope he gets what he earned.”
He also revealed that at the time he was just worried about paying his rent but now he might sue Paramount and write a letter asking for 20 years worth of money he believes he’s owed.
