“There are tons of places to drop in” The CN Tower’s doors are open for an exclusive celebration ahead of its 50th anniversary

It’s the 50th anniversary of the CN Tower on June 26, and Toronto’s famous landmark is  celebrating with Doors Open Toronto, offering a special event.

For the first time, on May 23 to May 24, the CN Tower is participating in the annual Doors Open Toronto event, offering a special behind the scenes tour.

The tour will provide teachings of the history and impact the Tower has had in the city, including archival footage and artifacts people will be able to experience.

Two days before the event, Maple Leaf Cinema at the CN Tower will be hosting a free keynote featuring talks from architects and designers that worked on it.

The Brandon Gonez Show attended the CN Tower Doors Open Toronto media preview to get the scoop on the upcoming events.

“It [the event] is getting into spaces that are not part of the CN Tower experience usually and is specific for their 50th anniversary and special Doors Open Toronto,” said Doors Open Toronto’s Programming Supervisor Kristine Williamson.

What makes the Doors Open event extra special is that people will have access to areas of the Tower that have never been accessible and open to the public.

“For a building and a space of this caliber and of this cultural importance to the city to be part of Doors Open is a huge opportunity for us. It’s a great opportunity for the city to come out and get to know this space in a different way,” Williamson told The Brandon Gonez Show.

Doors Open has been taking place every year for the past 25 years in many cities across Ontario, inviting people to explore most loved architectural sites for free.

“In addition to this tour experience at the CN Tower we have 168 sites that require no pre-registration at all,” added Williamson.

The full list of sites included for the event and opening hours can be found on www.toronto.ca/DoorsOpen
