A wedding invitation has sparked an online debate over wedding etiquette.

A bride and groom are facing online criticism for requesting that guests who RSVP transfer funds to pay for their meal.

“In lieu of traditional wedding gifts, we kindly request that you contribute towards the cost of our reception buffet,” the invitation says.

The invitation outlines the cost per guest: $40 per adult and $20 for children under 12.

“To facilitate the planning process, we kindly ask that you include your contribution when you RSVP,” the invitation continued.

However, the couple is facing a mix of online opinions about the invitation.

Meanwhile, other people online are praising the couple and see nothing wrong with it.

In addition, the couple also provided their banking information at the bottom of the invitation for people that want to transfer funds.

They’re also telling their guests that the most meaningful gift they could ask for is their love and support as they embark on a new chapter in their lives.
