Norway’s national football team striker, Erling Haaland has become a phenomenon and highly talked about player from online fans, to country leaders like Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Haaland has been gaining lots of attention from his impressive goals during this World Cup, many in awe of his plays.

He has gained worldwide attention and even Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney is a fan of Haaland, and even tried to jokingly recruit the player for Canada’s team for the next World Cup tournament.

Carney met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the NATO summit in Turkiye on July 8.

He spoke on Canada’s relationship with Norway and couldn’t help but mention the country’s current star soccer player Erling Haaland, as he led the team to a 2-1 victory on Sunday, knocking Brazil out of the World Cup round of 16.

“Interoperability also means sharing crews. And in the next World Cup, if you could share Erling Haaland with us, that would be greatly, greatly appreciated,” Carney said to Stoere.

Stoere jokingly responded back to Carney saying, “he’s not for sale.”

A Canadian is even agreeing with Norway’s Prime Minister, that Haaland is Norway’s beloved Nordic Viking, and is entertaining to watch on the national team.

“Rightly said, he is not for sale just enjoy him wherever he is!” said a user on The Brandon Gonez Show post.

Haaland’s two goals during Norway’s match against Brazil made history for the team, as it is now the first time the country has made the World Cup quarterfinals.

Erling Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge “Alfie” Haaland also played for Norway’s national football team, and played for the team at the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
