The first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show will be co-headlined by Canada’s very own, Justin Bieber, alongside other music icons.

On July 8, FIFA and Global Citizen made the announcement of this addition to the historical performance, set to take place on July 19.

The halftime show will be a huge moment, bringing global artists together to the biggest tournament that will be watched by millions worldwide, and it is also being done for a good cause.

The show supports the FIFA Global Citizen Fund, a new initiative expanding access to education and football for kids all over the world. They’re hoping to raise $100 million by the end of the tournament to go towards children’s education efforts and FIFA’s Football for Schools program.

The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino made a statement regarding the half-time show expressing his gratitude of having Bieber join the greatly curated lineup of artists, and the importance of having the first-ever World Cup final halftime show.

“When it comes to what the world needs, there is nothing more important than education,” Infantino commented.

The halftime show will also feature Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, Coldplay and a Staten Island elementary school’s acclaimed choir, PS22 Chorus.

The lineup for the show was also curated by Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay.

Justin Bieber’s last full concert tour was in 2022 for his “Justice World Tour” which was cut short due to the artist dealing with health issues.

He has done a few on stage performances since including Coachella in April, however his performances are very rare which creates a lot of excitement any time he makes an on stage appearance.

Canadians are feeling proud to have such a big name like Justin Bieber, perform at a historical moment on a global stage.

“It’s great. It’s great for Canada. He’s one of the top-selling artists in North America. I’m excited to see it,” Rob, a fan of Justin Bieber, told The Brandon Gonez Show. “I hope it brings in more casual fans, and then maybe they become soccer fans after all this,” he said.

Fans are already full of anticipation, wondering which of his many loved and iconic tracks the Biebs will choose to perform during this halftime show.

“I’ve liked Justin Bieber since ‘Baby’ came out, so I’m just curious to see what he does this time,” shared Emily, a local Canadian Justin Bieber fan.

Justin Bieber fan, Rob also told The Brandon Gonez Show that he hopes to hear classic JB songs as well as tracks on his newest album SWAG.

I want to see the whole catalogue, old and new,” said Rob.

On July 4, Justin Bieber was showing his love to Team Canada during their knockout match against Morocco.

“SEND YOUR LOVE AND PRAYERS TO TEAM CANADA. PLAYING NOW,” said Bieber in his post.

The World Cup final will take place at the New York New Jersey Stadium, also known as the MetLife Stadium.
