A new list of the most relaxing Canadian airports has been released and surprise surprise, Toronto Pearson International Airport did NOT make the list!
“Airports are often associated with stress, chaos and queuing, with research revealing that over 40% of people feel stressed when traveling through an airport,” a release from Canada Casino reads, adding that as a result about ten per cent of people avoid airports altogether.
Looking at data, including number of passengers, airport amenities and transportation links, Canada Casino has created a list of the “most stress-free” airports in Canada.
Saskatchewan’s Regina International Airport has been ranked as the most relaxing airport nationwide, with an overall relaxation score of 7.83/10, according to the results.
A Saskatchewan airport also snagged the second spot.Saskatoon’s John G. Diefenbaker International Airport received an overall relaxation score of 7.54/10.
Over in northern Alberta, in third place is Fort McMurray International Airport. The airport secured the third spot on the list, with a grade of 7.47/10.
Not far behind, the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport in New Brunswick was ranked as the fourth most relaxing airport in Canada, with a score of 7.44/10.
Half way through the list, Ontario finally entered the chat. The Region of Waterloo International Airport came in fifth with a score of 7.43/10, while London International Airport snagged sixth place, scoring 7.31/10.
In the west coast, Vancouver International Airport came in seventh place securing a score of 7.09/10, while Kelowna International Airport came in eighth with a score of 7.05/10.
Back in Ontario, Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport received an overall rating of 7/10, making it the ninth most stress-free airport.
While YYG Charlottetown Airport in Prince Edward Island rounded out the top ten least stressful Canadian airports, scoring 6.98/10.
The data was collected in July 2023 and the top 23 busiest airports by passenger traffic were analyzed for various factors that contribute to travellers’ stress. The experts then analyzed a three-day sample of scheduled and departed flights from flight radar24 for each airport. Canada Casino also looked at restaurant availability and the number of commute options each airport offers. The analysts then created a points based index and a final per cent rank score was calculated based on the number of passengers, number of flights per runway, number of restaurants and lounges, if there was a spa, the commute time and price by taxi and bus and number of transport options, to find Canada’s most relaxing airport.
